Refined Concept Plan for New Edgewood Park in South Surrey
After several rounds of community consultation and feedback from residents in the neighbourhood, the new Edgewood Park in South Surrey (formerly known as the Sunnyside Saddle Club Park) has released their Refined Concept Plan.
Located at 2284 165 Street in South Surrey, kitty-corner to our Edgewood Estates community and literal steps from Edgestone – this lush 9.6 acre park will feature three children’s play areas, a sports court with seating, wide open lawn area, parking for 20 vehicles and washrooms. Future plans include a potential community garden, pollinator meadow, and art installation. The City also hosted a community site meeting where residents were encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions which included the addition of a water park, shaded seating area, picnic tables and more.
According to Mary Wong, Landscape Architect for the City of Surrey, currently $1.1M has been budgeted for Edgewood Park which will be built out in phases, and further capital will be required to complete the park in full. Construction of the first phase is expected to commence this Summer with some areas of the park opening to the public as soon as this Fall! This new park will be a terrific addition to the Grandview Heights neighbourhood and well used by future students of the under construction Edgewood Elementary School across the street.
